From Pudong a taxi ride to PVG is only around 100-150 RMB and take less than an hour.
Without knowing where the OP's hotel is, why would you suggest hanging out in Pudong before the flight? (Most of us strongly prefer Puxi, and if you're near an entrance to one of the elevated roads, travel time to the airport is usually just as fast as from PVG.) I do agree that pretty much anywhere outside the airport is better than the CX lounge, though; that place is the pits.
