BA has raised the cost of cash+Avios awards
Last night, as several people mentioned on various threads, one could not log in to one's Executive Club account for several hours.
I believe it was down so that BA could change the cost of award tickets, specifically Avios+cash, effective immediately.
Previously, the shortest round trip priced out at 9,000 Avios roundtrip or (for US customers) 4,500 Avios + $70. The 9,000 Avios has not changed, but the cash and Avios is now 5,000 + $80. A ticket in business for this route is now 10,000 Avios + $150.
For the next longest bucket, a roundtrip is now 5,000 Avios + $130.
Longer flights appear to have changed as well, but I don't recall their exact costs previously.
While these awards remain great value, it is underhanded to make changes with no prior announcement, no mention on the web site that they have changed, no post on FT, etc.
