Thanks for the response. Yes, the trans-Pacific leg is on the original ticket. I will be taking the Vancouver to Shanghai flight so my luggage will make it that far, I just thought they could tag the baggage to Busan using the new ticket.

My layover time in Shanghai if I buy the new ticket would be 4 hours. If my flight is on time this would give me time to collect the luggage and check it in again. That's not a bad idea and if they're unable to put it through to the new destination I might do that.

Are you saying there could be problems even if the ticket desk people in Vancouver say it's ok and tag it in front of me? If it's tagged through to Busan and I'm on both flights with the luggage, shouldn't it be ok?
