I wouldn't say that. iPhones work fine with PC's and most (if not all) content providers (Netflix, HBO, Hulu, Amazon, etc.) have iPhone apps. The issue is you can't keep all your media in one place (you have to launch different apps to play iTunes media vs Amazon media). On the other hand, you can't play iTunes media at all on Android phones.
Either way, from the OP post, I doubt this is a concern.
