Do the miles have to be in your account to waitlist?
I've booked a mostly-UA award itinerary (UA LAX->ORD->CDG, OS CDG->VIE->BCN, UA LHR->LAX) for two people in X/XN, and would like to change it to I if possible. There's no availability now, so I was thinking of waitlisting. I would be transferring the miles from Chase (don't have the 80K in MileagePlus), so I'm wondering if I can get added to the waitlist without moving the miles over, and transferring them when/if I clear the waitlist. Anyone know or done this before?
