When I travel on CA domestic often time they sell in-flight upgrade during taxi.
You can definitely have a good look when boarding, including the J product and your neighbours to be.
Plus the price is often at a great discount (I recalled the lowest was just RMB200+ for a 2 hours ride).
I dont know if MU does this though.
