Do you have bags to check in and will you be on one ticket or two?
If on one ticket BA should check it through but if but you would need to take it to the check in desks.
PHX is one of the easier entry stations into the US but you could still be held up if flights from Mexico arrive just ahead of the BA flight ( the BA flight is the only large intl aircraft into PHX)
1.5 hours is still a little tight for my liking ( I prefer 2 hours).
I would probably go for 1.5 if I only had hand baggage.

PS- There have been a small number of reports of very large delays to PHX flights ( ie 4 hours and an overinght delay) which throws the above plan out of the window ( you may want to check for travel insurance)
