Places You Loved That No Longer Exist

I loved the Fetzer Inn, Hopland, in Mendocino County, California. I won a trip there in 2005 or so, which included airfare to SFO, car and accomos for 3 nights (and a dandy cash prize). Recipe contest. The room had a vineyard in the backyard, and you could jump off the terrace and pick a grape. The courtyard had a picturesque herb and flower garden that smelled wonderful. A guy in a booth greeted guests with a free swig of wine you as you drove up. This was a wonderfully rustic place that I was grateful to be able to take my mother to a couple of years before she passed away.

All of Mendo was just amazing, one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. Fetzer wines are still being made, but the Inn is closed.
