If your personal Platinum Card account was still open when you applied for the Preferred Rewards Gold you are not eligible for a bonus. It does not matter when you opened the account. Eligibility is determined by the what is open (or how recently closed) at the time of application.
Damn. I should've done my research before applying. What a waste of a credit pull.
