As for cars, I always rent a car when I head to Vegas. The amount you save by occassionally eating off strip makes up for it. And you can do things like go to Red Rocks, Valley of Fire, Lotus of Siam, and even play in the locals casinos (which, thought not as flashy, if you're there to gamble, some idiotic tourist isn't gonna screw things up - and I say that as a former Vegas local).
