When I spoke to to the premier mileage plus customer service she said she did not have the power to extend them, but a manager did, after a long wait they were extended.
Call back get to the right department, ask your questions and then be asked to be transfered to a manager or supervisor. It did take me a couple of calls, but it was worth it in the end. Perserver......
