I see this as a good move. He had the plans, the ambition and the desire to get bmi back on the main stage, but it was just LH that had cold feet. To that, it's nice to see him working to rival LH.
Air Berlin do have some similar challengers though - a need to find out and re-focus on what they're good at (whatever that is) rather than the assembly of various different merged airline.
