I took these two photos yesterday (Jan 4, 2013) aboard of IAD-PEK UA 897 flight.
As our aircraft entered into the China Air Space in the northeastern China, I spotted another UA 777 aircraft on our lower right side. Within a couple of minutes after taking these photos, the spotted aircraft took a left turn under our aircraft and disappeared.
I have no idea where it went. Looking at the schedule, the aircraft could be flown in any of the following routes: LAX-PVG, ORD-PEK, EWR-PEK, EWR-HKG. I am not familiar with fight path and scheduling, and was wondering why the spotted United aircraft was flying lower than us and took a left turn well ahead of us (we were heading directly towards PEK as far as I could tell from the in-flight map).
