The other funny part is that even though they market 3B/C as E+ (or "ELR") seats, I find them to actually be more cramped and restrictive. There's a reason almost everybody on this board recommends row 12 instead. And even if row 12 is occupied, I still prefer rows 4 through 10 over row 3.
Last time I was on one of these (MHT-EWR), I traded my assigned 2A with the pax in 3B so that I could sit with my wife in 3C, and I could not for the life of me tell whether the passenger in 3B thought she had gotten a raw deal.
My seat didn't recline and we had a tough time finding overhead storage space for our bags, so I think on balance the pax we traded with came out ahead.
