I agree with Cordelli. I really depends on whether the OP is interested in the Silver benefits.
If you are looking for 'upgrades', then No, upgrades don't come with silver status. But, then yet, the OP did not ask about upgrades.
Silver is considered VIP status and so you have access to the VIP reward redemption as well.
