What year the miles post (relevant for MQMs) is different from when you get hit with the Mileage Booster charge (relevant for Amex). I'm nearly positive my Mileage Booster charge hit when I purchased the ticket. (The miles will later post, and their post date should be the date of your trip,just like the regular miles.)
