flights within 24 hours are not considered "stopover" so even if your ticket rules don't allow a "stop-over" you can always request the last segment HKG-TPE on business booked on next day, within 24 hours. That avoids your bag checked-through to TPE and you can always call and cancel the last leg after you get home in HKG.
