It is actually doable as LHR-Barcelona-Malta according to the OneWorld timetable. However, Barcelona to Malta is operated by Vueling so I think this is only bookable with Iberia Avios. You'd need to transfer to Iberia to book this - and you can't move BA Avios to IB Avios until your IB account has been open for 90 days.
