Exactly as I feared - thanks for confirming this. However, it seems I can get 16% cashback if I book via QuidCo > accorhotels.com direct, so this softens the price difference quite a bit.

Follow-up Q: how good (or bad) is the status recognition for Platinum at Sofitel NYC?
