Arrow BA flies to 8 of the 10 most populous cities in the USA

Sitting by the pool near Phoenix as I type (at the Camelback Inn in Scottsdale, which I love) and the Mrs and I got talking about how nice it is BA flies direct to PHX, making it the only European carrier to do so.

That spiralled into a conversation about perhaps PHX being of the biggest cities in the US, and it is... 6th in fact, based on 2011 data. Checking out the Top 10 was actually quite surprising, and by my reckoning, BA only offer direct services to 8 out of 10:

1. New York
2. Los Angeles
3. Chicago
4. Houston
5. Philadelphia
6. Phoenix
7. San Antonio
8. San Diego
9. Dallas
10. San Jose

Interestingly, other main BA gateways I can think of are ranked as follows:

14. San Francisco
21. Boston
22. Denver
23. Seattle
24. Baltimore
25. Washington
31. Las Vegas
40. Atlanta
44. Miami
53. Tampa
68. Newark
78. Orlando

Have I missed any?

Obviously a few discrepancies as you get places like Fort Worth and North Las Vegas listed as separate cities, which of course they are, and if they were included with their neighbours it would affect the rankings.

And I know BA don't fly to places based on population data alone, but it is still an interesting analysis to consider. And helps to reinforce why they brought back the SAN service.

So when are San Jose and San Antonio launching?????
