Quality Inn, Mackinaw City, MI

Stayed at the Quality Inn in Mackinaw City, MI 8/8/12 because it was one of the few hotels with two adjoining rooms with two double beds and rollaway available when I booked about a week in advance.

It is a relatively large multi-building compound, with pool in one building, office and breakfast room in another, and multi-story motel buildings. All looked okay from the outside.

The first two rooms were pretty run down, did not have connecting doors, were too small for rollaways and smelled too bad to even stand in. They "upgraded" to larger adjoining rooms right on their beach. They were still pretty run down but we appreciated the better rooms. The beds were quite comfortable (I got 10 hours of sleep!).

The kids really liked the sliding glass doors opening right onto their "beach" which had nice grass and sand near the building for lounging, but the water's edge was undeveloped and uninviting. However the water was shallow and not wavy and the kids enjoyed it.

The pool was also tired looking but was decent size and the kids liked it. The breakfast buffet was typical and again the kids liked it. However, the run down conditions of our rooms made us swear never to stay in another Quality Inn.
