And can solo in single-engine planes at 16. Plus, he can get his pilot's license at 17. I've read stories of teens getting their pilot's license before they got their driver's license.

UAL250, if your son wants to be a pilot, many flight schools offer "discovery flights" where a flight instructor will take him up in the left seat and he can get a feel for what it's like to fly a plane.

I'm in flight training now for my own license and it's both a lot of fun and a lot of studying.
