I'm assuming you're referring to F travel? What you're describing is not uncommon at all (on TG and on other airlines). Where a pre-ordered meal is provided, if the pax is still hungry (or doesn't like the pre-ordered meal), the FAs will almost always offer a choice of second main (from the regular catering) if asked. Of course, this assumes there is a second main remaining after other pax have been served. F is generally over catered... with the sometime exception of Dom Perignon ... so a second serving is generally possible.
