While the ultimate future is undecided for the TAM portion of the company (and possibly the LAN side, too), one thing which is certain is that within the next 24 months (from last Thursday) they will leave *A.
Executives have acknowledged this need for TAM to leave Star Alliance as well. It is happening.
Codeshares exist outside of Alliance deals.
