Another open-to-anybody-via-ACC credit union has begun issuing Chip-and-PIN cards (albeit likely with a lengthy application process).

EMV Card Debuts at State Department FCU

Best of all? It's actually even better than Andrews FCU GlobeTrek because:

She noted the credit union also had waived foreign transaction fees on its credit cards. SDFCU members go through the regular credit card application process to obtain the new EMV cards.
State Dept. FCU credit card https://www.sdfcu.org/CreditCards
  • No Foreign Transaction Fee
  • No Annual Fee
  • Earns rewards
  • Chip-and-PIN

As with Andrews FCU, anyone can join State Dept. FCU via the American Consumer Council.

If the experience at Andrews FCU has shown, it'll probably have a lengthy application process as the downside. Best to keep an open mind that it caters to US State Dept. employees first as their main clientele rather than globetrotting corporate road warriors or the average backpacker across Europe.
