I think that the last letter is the originally booked fare bucket. I did an UG ORD-FRA (to R in Business) and it showed as UP52H. I was booked in H and upgraded to C. The 52 meshes with the code for NA to EUR in previous posts. I assumed the UP was for Upgrade, but that doesn't match other posts in this thread.
