True. But I bet it still sucks for the employees, who lose seniority et al when being "rehired" with the new regional (and who as part of the cost cutting probably also give up benefits, pay, etc., with the new operator).
And, IME, not all the former employees get hired. Remember, it is a cost-saving measure. At my home airport, we see the same employees work the American Eagle flights and the UA flights. In fact, the ticket agents and gate agents wear AE uniforms.
