Comfort Suites Downtown Buffalo, NY: Nice hotel that was recently renovated (2009ish). All rooms are 1 bedroom suites about 450-500 sq ft, have two TVs, a pullout sofa, fridge/microwave, and a bathroom that can be accessed through both the bedroom or living room. Standard Comfort Suites breakfast and nice employees. Right on Chippewa and Main Street in downtown Buffalo. The only downsides I noticed is that there is no pool, the fitness center has equipment that needs repairing, and parking is a block and a half away, although it is in a covered garage rather than surface lot. Overall: A-

Inn at Mendenhall (Ascend Collection) Mendenhall, PA: Independent hotel near Kennett Square/Brandywine Valley. Finely appointed rooms and very cordial staff. Didn't eat at the on-site restaurant, but the bar had decent drinks at average bar prices (rather than inflated hotel prices), albeit a so-so selection of beers. Breakfast was relatively expansive for a Choice Hotel with several hot choices, usual expanded continental offerings, plus an omelet bar, which was a fun touch. Highly recommend the hotel, especially as it does not feel like a standard midscale chain hotel. Overall: A
