BA's T&Cs prohibits a member owns more than one account.
Historical data suggested BA system use member's address to verify membership. (make sense as they dont have your SSN or Driver License but your address.)
Not saying it would not work for you with a new BA account number, just that BA system seems DID verify member's data when Chase requested new membership.
Besides, the airline is not dumb - Check this unrelated thread to give you an idea how vigilant BA is in detecting frauds, and how swiftly and aggressively actions are being taken. You only read the last 10 pages to get a good grip.
