Yes. While paying by check does not allow one to garner miles or points for online billing, one could still earn miles or Starpoints re: mileage-earning options.

AAaLot, I don't know if you're aware of such, but Starpoints can be converted to AAdvantage miles (1:1 ratio). In addition, if you transfer 20,000 in one shot, Starwood adds an additional 5,000.
