You would certainly be right if we were talking about a heavy membership fee, but $12 -- one time only -- and getting a year's subscription to the internet edition of Inside Flyer would not discourage many people.
Frankly, the price is worth it to me simply to know that I am dealing with people who are at least serious enough to let the board's administration know who they are.
I have also heard -- third hand, so it might not be correct -- of one poster who sent objectionable private mail to one of the women on FlyerTalk. I doubt it would happen if he knew that admin could identify him, and, if necessary, give his name and address to the police.
