Might that be because each word has its own definition, with "oral" used in its adjectival sense?

First of all, English is my third language. Secondly, I don't prepare legal briefs anymore.
Thirdly...even though my handle (unfortunately) shows that I am a lawyer, I do not need to show that in almost every post I make, unlike some.
