And yes CX is just like any other business; they are here to make money. Their goal is to squeeze every cent out of you.
I'm just trying to vent and validating that regardless of my continued loyalty to CX, in the end, the benefits and perks are only as good as your last mile earned. I think Cathay Boy hit the nail in the head, that the main difference I am trying to allude to is not the stated benefits of the tier, but more on the attitude and how I was treated as a Silver rather than gold/diamond in this current trip.
