Yup, pulled over for a secondary. Shoes, soles of feet, every nook-'n'-cranny in my carry-ons. By the time I got onto the plane, the rest of the F cabin were already having their PDBs.
Next time, I'll stay back in line.
Next time fly ANA - no gate security check, available pre-boarding for *G, and a much nicer inflight experience.
The gate security checks target US carriers - fly foreign, get better service and inflight products and avoid the hassle.
When I fly TPE-NRT on UA, security is waiting by that boarding lounge too, so it's a problem regardless of your destination when flying a US airline.
