The name of the desk that's authorized to open R space would
be a good start. For example, several knotty problems with
mixed CO/UA upgrades were solved last year by asking for
the "integration desk" (different problems, of course).

Actually, once you hang up after confirming the schedule change you're pretty much done asking for a review of your situation.
Not in my experience. I've already gone through 8 changes on
these two tickets and some of them took repeated calls to
straighten out - like finding a better flight after I hung up and
calling back to make another change.

I can also pretty much assure you that there are notes in your record regarding your request for a change to the letter of the rule, which was denied. Sorry!!!
I doubt this. Over 20 years and a million miles with CO,
I've had dozens of situations where agents #1 and #2
tell me that something is impossible or prohibited, and
then agent #3 - or #10 - does exactly that.

Of course, I am not going to call repeatedly. But it would
be good to know who has the authority to force an upgrade
after an involuntary schedule change.
