Golds haven't had EL access without an executive level room for a while.
But if the rumors are true and suite upgrades will be a part of the program for diamonds/golds then there may be a better chance of golds getting on to the exec level (with diamonds being given the suites). It is possible that golds will see some better benefits as a result.
