Coming in from Canada, you'll have pre-cleared US Immigration & Customs at YVR, so you won't have to spend time on that when you arrive.
If your incoming flight is on time, 43 minutes should be fine. But if there are any delays, you'll be running and/or may miss your connecting flight entirely. I'd advise against taking that much risk.
