Don't think that is true:
Reserved boarding privileges will not be provided in instances where the A-List or A-List Preferred Member's reservation meets any of the following criteria:
- reservations booked less than 36 hours prior to scheduled departure
- changes made to an existing reservation less than 36 hours prior to a scheduled departure
- standby travel on a different flight than what was originally confirmed
- flights taken after a Member’s A-List membership expires
- irregular flight operations may also affect A-List and A-List Preferred membership benefits

I did book more than 36 hours ahead of the departure and certainly more than 36 hours ahead of return which is where I got the B-5
