Singapore Airlines Promotes Dream Of Seamless International
Travel
15/10/1999
Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced today that it will join the Star Alliance network
as part of its global strategy to provide its customers with improved services and
benefits, including "seamless" air travel worldwide.
SIA is expected to join the Star Alliance as a full member by April 2000.
Said SIA Deputy Chairman, Dr Cheong Choong Kong: "Our entry into Star will
substantially strengthen the Alliance's global route network, especially in Asia, the
Asia-Pacific region and Europe. We are offering our customers an opportunity to
travel further, faster, and more conveniently than ever before."
The most immediate benefit to customers will be SIA's participation in the Star
Alliance's popular "Round-the-World" and "StarLite" fares from 31 October 1999.
These fares become more attractive with the inclusion of SIA's wide international
network.
Dr Cheong revealed the plan during celebrations in Tokyo to mark the official entry
of All Nippon Airways into the Star Alliance network.
