This issue has been discussed over and over on this forum. A search often turns up useful information. You should try calling to update your status. Also as the old adage goes, if you don't get a satisfactory answer on your first call, hang up and call again, and again (if necessary). You (eventually) will get an agent who can change your status immediately. Hertz doesn't do it automatically.
