Arrow AM half day "Culture Tour" Sat 28 May 2011

Details of the half day Culture Tour as as follows:

Depart Holiday Inn Esplanade at 0830 followed by Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza at 0835 bus & head to Parap Markets which is what the locals do on a Saturday morning. A great place to get a fresh fruit juice, laksa or many other cuisines on offer. There are some fantastic arts and crafts also which make great souvenirs for the folks back home. Maybe check out one of the art galleries such as Nomad Art, Raft Art Space or 24 hour art, have a cappuccino at Caf Parap or browse in the gift shop 'Paraphernalia'.

After the markets head on down to the Botanic Gardens which a short distance away where you can view cycads, palms, native top end plants, mangroves & coastal plants. There is also a Plant Display House which contains a collection of tropical orchids, bromeliads & other exotic plants.

From here we move on the the NT Museum & Art Gallery at Fannie Bay where you can view the exhibition "Australian Portraits 1880-1960 which is on from 09 April - 10 July, Gallery of Indigenous Art, Cyclone Tracy Exhibition & SouthEast Asian Link Gallery. There is also the Cornucopia Cafe which offers brunch or a snack (in case you haven't already eaten at your hotel or the Parap Markets)!

On the way back to the city we drop in at the 'Framed' Art Gallery at Stuart Park which as well as showcasing Australian art, has a number of arts & crafts for sale in wood, leather, bronze, glass, ceramics & pottery.

We arrive back at our city hotels around 1230 in time for lunch with our fellow FTers & to grab a quite bite to eat before joining the afternoon "Conflict Tour".

Cost per person is AUD25.00

As with all the other Ozfest activities such as dinners & sightseeing tours we will load the costs on to a website that will have an easy format to select what you're attending & total it up so BundyBear can take the payment.
