But seriously - FAA only has jurisdiction on flight departing or landing in US. I have seen this happen many time in SEAsia when the flight is late and passengers are connection to the last flight of the day out. It is more of an issue when there is not only overnighting hotel involved but also entry visa for transit passengers.
