As an aside, I asked the purser just before landing (our second fantastic UK-based cabin crew this week) to thank the Captain and he replied, "Why don't you thank him yourself?"
He drew me aside at the door and took me up to the cockpit where I thanked all of them on behalf of us two 1Ks. I told them that another pilot had described it to us as a "great tool," and that today it provided great info for passengers since we experienced some rerouting and delays due to weather around IAD.
The pilot and first officers seemed to appreciate it (we ran into one in the security line for our connecting flight and chatted somemore) so I felt it was worth 30 seconds of my time to wave the Channel 9 flag, and the excellent purser seemed to enjoy having a passenger to do that as well.
