mtacchi makes a very generous offer! So now you probably have another decision to make! Tofino and Long Beach can be spectacular and very romantic when the weather is nice. It can get foggy and cool on occasion, though, even in summer. If you are thinking of taking him up on his offer, I can recommend Pacific Sands Beach Resort in Tofino or the new Long Beach Lodge Resort or the Wickaninnish Inn! You will definitely remember walking along the beaches....

Hard to get around without a car there, though and Tofino is definitely not a big city, although it is very pleasant. Marc might have some further suggestions for a place to stay, etc.

If you do want to stay in Victoria, some friends stayed at Gatsby Mansion for their wedding night and loved it. The two turret or gable rooms with the harbourview are the nicest, but they seem to be getting pretty pricey these days. You will still be right downtown at the Inner Harbour here.

I quite like The Magnolia hotel, they don't have a waterfront location but they are new and boutiquey in a nice way. Higher floors are better.

Laurel Point Hotel has some really nice rooms in their South or West wing (can't remember which, now). They are larger rooms with ocean view and a contemporary Asian look.

The Hotel Grand Pacific has recently completed a large addition and renos and I like the look of their one-bedroom suites.
