If you are paying for Premium Economy, then , with crediting to AA you can attain AA Gold status after the 1st trip, Platinum status after 2 trips and Executive Platinum after 4

I think crediting to AA is definitely the way to go and will give you much better redemptions. As a Platinum member the r/ts will earn over 35,000 AA miles . 62,500 is needed for a 1 way business class redemption to Australia using AA miles. Compare that with the 112,000 needed using QF miles
