I am not familiar with EWR-MIA route.
However, in general, flying in / out of a hub on a sunday PM / Friday PM flight is going to be Elite Heavy. (folks either going to their site on sunday PM / arriving from site Friday PM).
Based on that observation, I would say your upgrade chances are slim at best.
