The EVO is my first phone with a touch screen keyboard, so I cannot tell you if it is better or worse than any other phone in that respect.

I did try Swype after the latest firmware update downloaded, but really did not care for it.

The feature that I find most useful the "Vibrate when typing option." It gives just enough feedback to make it feel like a physical keyboard. The spell correction and word completion options take care of most typos, often before I realize I made them.
