You can, but be aware that the check-in agent may give you a hard time. I usually buy tickets for my mother (travelling without me) and the check-in process has always been uneventful, but last month she sent me a text from T5 which said she'd been sent to the ticketing desk from check-in because she didn't have the credit card used to book the flight.
She was asked for additional photo ID and proof of address. Luckily she had both and the "problem" was swiftly resolved.
