Flight to Shanghai

Flight/Origin-Destination: YYZ - PVG

Pre departure
Was check in quick and efficient? YES
Did you use priority security (if eligible) and if so, was it quick and efficient? YES
Did you use the Maple Leaf lounge and if so, any feedback in regards to service, food and drinks? Normal and fine as usual. Quiet also.
Was priority boarding offered (if applicable to your status) and efficient? YES, but we were asked by the MLL agent to show up early because they needed to de-ice and wanted to leave early. So we did and then waited 15 minutes as nobody was at the gate
If there was a delay, did the gate agent provide timely updates? There was a delay after we boarded. Seems a flight from Montreal was delayed due to the weather, and there were 15 people connecting on our flight. We were told it would be 20 minutes. 1 hour and 15 minutes later the PAX’s from that flight finally boarded. ( no announcements during that 1 hour wait )

Onboard - J cabin:
Were the crew professional & well groomed? YES
If there was a delay, were you provided with timely updates? No
Was the IFE activated on the ground? Yes
Was a pre-departure beverage offered on the ground? YES
Did crew offer to hang your jacket? YES
Were newspapers & menus distributed and meal orders taken (Please specify when meal orders were taken - on the ground or in the air)? Newspaper on the Ground, Menus on the ground, Order in the air by status.
Did crew offer a hot towel prior to the meal service? YES
Approximately how long after takeoff did it take for the first meal service to be completed? (From takeoff to all items collected) would guess 1 1/2 hours or so.
How was the quality of all the meals? Great. Actually fantastic. Asked the SD if they could cook the steak rare and they did, perfectly, the best steak I’ve had on a flight in a long time. Bread was fresh, Smoked Salmon was thinly sliced, Ice dream was as hard as cement, but thawed in a few minutes Breakfast Omelette was nice, Croissants where fresh, Only bad thing, No Cookies…..
Did the cabin crew continuously top up the beverage of your choice throughout the flight? YES


Post departure
If you have checked baggage, did it arrive within reasonable period of time? No, took 5 minutes after 30 or so non-status bags came off

Overall experience/any other comments: The entire crew were a great, with a great sense of humor. Totally made up for the 1 and a half hour late arrival in Shanghai. Hats off to them all
