To clarify: Diamonds are entitled to free breakfast where there is no Club or upgrade to Regency/Grand Club where there is a Club (with comp breakfast in the Club). If the property has a Club but it is either closed or fully booked, Diamonds will get their breakfast AND a 2500 point "apology" bonus. Also note that at North American properties you get a choice between a food/beverage amenity or 1000 points (500 at Hyatt Place and Somerset Suites).
Glad to read your positive report as I have two nights booked at a very attractive rate there in early December. Your explanation about renovations explain why I have been unable to confirm a suite upgrade.
